OBSTETRIC BRACHIAL PLEXUS PALSY
Abstract
The obstetric brachial plexus palsy is currently a less frequent lesion with an incidence of around 1 to 3: 1,000 live births, given the improvements in maternal and infant care in the country (Brazil) and the excessive number of Caesarean sections performed, but is still a worrying occurrence due to the potential complications associated with injury. The majority of patients, 80 to 90%, has partial or complete recovery from the injury. The aim of this review article is to describe a protocol for care, classification, diagnosis and treatment of these lesions.
