Abstract

Tuberculous meningoencephalitis is the most severe form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, with cerebral infarction being one of its most severe complications. The recognition of imaging findings of this type of complication is extremely important for the conduct of these cases. In this iconographic essay are presented five cases of patients of the University Hospital Clementino Fraga Filho (UFRJ) with tuberculous meningoencephalitis complicated with cerebral infarcts. The patients were studied through computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the skull, identifying cerebral infarcts in the topography of the ganglia basal and internal capsule, indicating a pattern of disease involvement.
